Start by checking the County Government listings online under “Marriage Licenses.” You may get your license at any county office in Colorado for a wedding anywhere in the state. No waiting period. The same rules apply for Colorado marriage licenses for same-sex couples as they do for opposite-sex couples. Get married within 30 days of obtaining the license or it expires. Call a county office near you for more details. Bring your marriage license to the wedding. The officiant will fill out the bottom part of the license and send it in for you to be recorded with the county. The county will then return the license to you. In the meantime, you may use a marriage certificate provided by your officiant to show proof of marriage. In order to change the name on your driver’s license and other documents, you will need the actual marriage license.
